Abstract

The researchers explored the challenges of accessing entrepreneurial information among job-seeking youth in Ogun State, Nigeria. The study aimed to determine the extent to which job-seeking youth receive information on entrepreneurship and to identify the barriers they face in accessing this information. Human capital theory served as the study’s guiding framework. The researchers used a descriptive research design, with a questionnaire as the primary instrument for data collection. Four hundred job-seeking youth were selected through purposive sampling, and data were analyzed using tables, frequency counts, and percentages. Findings revealed that 77.1% of job-seeking youth in Ogun State received entrepreneurial information, but language barriers, high data costs, and lack of access to reception devices such as radios, televisions, and internet-enabled phones were significant obstacles. The researchers concluded that entrepreneurial information could greatly benefit job-seeking youth by providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to create their own opportunities. Based on these findings, it was recommended that entrepreneurial information be disseminated in both indigenous languages and English to ensure comprehension among non-educated job seekers, and that it be shared through newspapers, magazines, religious institutions, family, and friends, among other channels.
